Jaime Bayly rails against Obama in Miami
Miami based Peruvian talk show host Jaime Bayly has begun an attack campaign against American presidential hopeful Barak Obama. The popular Spanish language talk show host has turned increasingly to the political right upon his arrival in Miami on the local television station Mega TV.
Once known for his cutting edge talk show “que hay de nuevo,” (what’s new) Bayly has since been pandering to a more ideological audience after his arrival in Miami. Mega TV’s viewing public consists of a large number of hardline anti-Castro Cuban exiles. His shows now nearly always feature Cuba and Castro.
On Wednesday night’s broadcast he juxtaposed the Cuba policy views of Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee with that of Obama. Bayly made it clear that Obama was ready to reward the oppressive Castro regime if his brother Raul Castro, who seems set to resume his brother’s role as dictator in chief, made only slight changes to the political economy of the island nation. Huckabee and McCain on the other hand would remain hostile in its relations with the government in Havana unless there was a full multi-party democracy in place, implying that only a Raul epiphany or an outright coup would trigger a positive from Washington.
Mr. Bayly went on to rip Obama’s wife Michelle for comments she made which seemed to question her patriotism. God forbid!

Jaime likes to fuck around. If the majority of the media praised McCain, Jaime would be rooting for Obama. Sounds arrogant to me. Think I could come to Lima and be credible commenting on the candidates there by saying soming like, why would the Peruvians reelect a man whorobbed the government blind in his previous term, took the money and lived in Paris, and whose approval rating is very low in the majority of the country. El programa de Jaime fue interrumpido intencionalmente hoy Lunes por los obtusos directivos del canal, debido a los comentarios que Jaime estaba haciendo, los cuales dicho sea de paso, yo apoyo 100%. Resulta que segun Jaime le enviaron un email donde le pedian que se disculpara publicamente ante el dueño del Canal, el empresario Raul Alarcon, el cual parece que se sintio ofendido por las palabras de Jaime en un programa anterior donde este reclamó en publico que el aire acondicionado era muy fuerte y que al parecer no lo tomaban en serio cuando el iba a pedirels en privado que lo ajustaran a una temperatura mas acorde, por respeto a el y al publico. Jaime, te felicito. Posiblemente tu programa lo retiren de la cartelera pues les tocaste hoy con la verdad donde les duele. Me alegro que hayas relevado lo injusto que han sido contigo al violar el contrato que inicialmente ase acordo. Si te ofrecieron mejor salario despues de determinado tiempo y luego salen con que hay que hacer recortes y demas, pues ese no es tu problema. Como bien tu dijiste, los recortes se hacen a los programas de bajo rating, y el tuyo, por si nadie lo ha notado, es el de mayor rating en la pobre cartelera de este canal. Espero que estas personas lleguen a un acuerdo beneficioso para todos, para ti, pra ellos y para el publico, pues por lo que a mi respecta, no creo que vea mas nada de la MegaTV si te despiden. El programa de Alexis Valdes ya esta en decadencia, y el noticiero es pesimo. Asi que ojala se traguen su orgullo y hagan tres cosas: Bajar el puto aire que nada les cuesta. Pagarte el dinero que te deben pues fue un contrato, no fue una promesa, y por ultimo, que dejen tu programa mucho mas tiempo pues es interesante. Hay muchos temas que discutes y opiniones con las que no concuerdo del todo o para nada, pero creo que es lo normal, pues si todos pensaramos igual este mundo seria un lugar muy aburrido y monotono. Fue una total falta de respeto al público que ve el programa de Jaime Bayly cortarle la onda de forma tan abrupta. Cuando Jaime canta las verdades de Cuba o de Venezuela le daban tiempo adicional. Cuando las verdades son contra la gerencia del canal le coartan su derecho de expresión. Es el único programa en español que merece verse por lo abierto de sus comentarios y el humor solapado dentro de las verdades que expresa. Demostró la gerencia que Jaime tenía razón cuando los comparó con los Castro y Chavez. Ustedes estan haciendo lo mismo. La única diferencia es que ellos lo hacen abiertamente mientras que la gerencia de la Mega es tan cobarde que no da la cara. Sepan que no volveró a ver la Mega. . No hay nada digno de ver en la Mega sin Jaime Bayly.

Bayly has strong arguments to criticize Obama, Obama hasn’t led a single iniciative in congress, is protectionist when it comes to the economy, which makes no sense in a globalized world, seems like he’s the 72 year old and not McCain.
I agree with most of Bayly’s points against Obama and even though I tend to be a democrat, this time around I’m voting for McCain.
As for Mega TV: shame on them, it was disrepectful to the viewers to cut him off as he was talking. Let’s boicot Mega!

En primer lugar el articulo peca al mentir como todo lo que viene de la siniestra .Jaime no menciona a Cuba en todos sus programas sino que habla de todo en especial sobre Chavez y sus secuaces Correa y Evo.
Es obvio que a los que dicen ser de izquierdas no les cae bien Bayly porque ellos son de “mente abierta” solo para lo que huele a siniestra y no les gustan las opinones opuestas sino ver todo pais donde la izquierda rancia y fallida predomina .

I was worry about you thinking that your program may not come back and I was also thinking what can I watch at night? when you look around there is just NOTHING worth it in any network…. so I was wondering if you have a website in case any channel in the USA or Peru changes their mind (we need to think about a way you can continue to broadcast and keep us entertaint by the way I hope we don’t ever need it but just in case….lol. As far as the Obama comments… our country is facing so many unique issues that I do think either candidate will have a hard time finding the right advisors to help them deal with our current issues. Bank crisis, oil and energy prices, lack of funding for Student loans, inflation, unemployment, globalization, the war in Iraq & Afghanistan, Iran & Korea risks and the trade deficit with China just to mention a few. (we have never face all these problems at one time) It was easier to solve the issues with the collapse of Russia than to deal with our current problems. Wish the best to McCain as far as Obama he does a fantastic job telling me the current situation but I want to hear more from both on how they will fix them not just what our current problems are! Bayly keep up the good job sharing your point of view and thanks because in your program you “KEEP IT REAL” and no broadcaster has the huevos to say what you said on Monday! FREE SPEECH is the way to go! I believe the CUBA regime must end before we can do business with their government.

No puedes imaginar que del centro del pais tengas fanaticos como mi familia y amigos.Todos en la familia hemos cambiado a Direct TV hasta los mas jovenes y ni se digan de los adultos que te vemos noche a noche y recomendado a varias familias solo para ver tu programa.Nos sentimos muy incomodos cuando de pronto vimos cortado tu programa pero a la vez muy inteligente la entrevista de antenoche explicando los motivos .Nos encanta tu forma de conducir el prgrama y a la vez tus comentarios sobre Fidel, Chavez, asi como que eres una gran influencia para nuestras futuras decisiones en las elecciones que se nos avecinan.

It is not the first time that Bayly is in the wrong side of domestic politics. As a Peruvian, I remember after the corrupted Fujimori government, Peru’s democracy was going through a very dangerous transition. There was an upcoming election and the only viable candidate was Alejandro Toledo, a centrist candidate, who, without imperfections, managed to defeat the Fujimori apparatus and rescued our Democracy. Then, the “very smart Jaimito Bayly” very irresponsibly, pushed for a public campaign against Toledo, urging people to null their votes, instead of voting for Toledo. Suicidal! Toledo was finally elected, and his government cemented the beginning of the prosperous time that Peru is enjoying now. So, one more time the ratings-hungry Bayly is on the wrong side of domestic politics, portraying McCain as the best choice. Is he? or is he just preaching to the Cuban Americans? Unfortunately for him, Miami has large numbers of people from many Latin American countries and their memories are far better than the Peruvians. We won’t forget his distorted and misleading critics towards Omaba, by far the best option for the US.

Yes!- We are living in a free country, but lets not abuse of this liberty.. I like Jaime narrative writing style, eventhough I may not agreed with how he exposes his private life, and those of his inmedate family, well it is his choice. But I do not like the double standards that he, himself always claims to hate; Jaime writes and makes comments on television about the lives and experiences of his ex- friends without any worry. He wants to presents himself like the messiahs of the Gay-bio, community or the king of true. I truly believe that he is letting himself be used by the Republicans of Florida,or he is socking their hands in order to maintain his program at Mega TV. Indudablemente Jaime Bayly esta muy preciso cuando dice que no hay libertad en Cuba, que existe una opresion horrible por mas de cincuenta anos y que los venezolanos estan llendo en ese paso. No hay nada como la libertad de expresion y la democracia con elecciones que permita a los partidos de la oposicion que gobiernen en turno.
Bayly hace un buen papel en mantener en nuestras mentes el infierno de Cuba.

This is the problem with Miami Cuban radicals. Everything is the fault of the Castro brothers. This certainly carries with it serious elements of truth however, never will you see self crticism or God forbid criticism of historical American foreign policy for the authoritarian descent of Cuba. The Miami Cuban community has many problems which need to be addressed and until that happens virulent ideological radicalism will always pervail there. The “infierno de Cuba” harangue will linger until the Castro brothers are dead or the older Miami radicals are dead. Meanwhile, the entire country will be affected by these ethinic special interests coming out of Florida.

In regards to the people offending Miami’s Cubans:
Some of you want you want to blame the U.S government for what Castro has done to Cuba. I guess you will also blame the U.S policy on what Chavez is doing to Venezuela and Kirshner to Argentina, oh wait! there is no embargo on Venezuela and Argentina but the result is the same on the people, oppress the people through the same socialism that is suppose to be improving their lives, the only lives being improved in Venezuela and Argentina, are that of the Kirshners and Chavez and obviously all their family and friends.
How would you feel if George Bush, through a mandate, took your house, your business and your country for that matter. It is easy to criticize and offend those you oppose politically, try reading some history while being objective and you may just learn something.
If you like socialism so much, I am sure Chavez will you a passport and he is always looking for more voters, no matter if they come from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba or anywhere else.

I will certainly blame the US government if they illegaly intervene in the state affairs of Venezuela or Argentina as you say. I don’t see how your comparison with Cuba holds up here? In Cuba the US government directly intervened several times under the mandate of the Monroe Doctrine and indirectly later through the Kennedy trade embargo. The US to my knowledge has not directly intervened in the affairs of neither Venezuela or Argentina.
Moreover, you are also conflating the political ideology of socialism with authoritarian oppression. Authoritarian rule is what is oppressing the people of Venezuela and Cuba not socialism per say. Indeed, I would find it very difficult for you to point to modern day examples of socialism, as economic doctrine, oppressing the body politic. Indeed, the nations with the highest standards of living in the world are socialist democracies as is the case of the Scandanavian countries.
If Bush, through a mandate which would indeed be a gross violation of the US constitution and wholly impossible given the nations judicial safeguards through the separation of powers, were to somehow begin to confiscate homes, property etc., then this would be a turn to authoritarian rule and an executive coup against the rule of law. This of course has nothing to do with socialism as such.

Jaime, me encanta tu programa y lo veo a diario, pero me tienes un poco confundida con tu cambio sobre los candidatos a la presidencia..te enamoraste perdida mente de Sarah Palin y en estos ultimos dias solamente la criticas al igual que Jonh Maccain…espero que sea una de tus bromas pero hay muchas personas que te siguen y pueden cometer un error al votar…seria terrible que obama salga como presidente de este pais por favor ayuda a la gente latina de este pais a votar correctamente y algo que nos convenga a nosotros en Sur America.

Mr. Jaime Bayly during the show air the 11/05/08 made several racist Anti-American remarks on which he put down the Importance of the Island of Hawaii for the United States of America in order to remark that Mr. Obama was not really a US Citizen. Not only that he also made remarks that Obama was a “Negro realizing his Disney dream”.
I can’t take a person that call my country a “Mickey Mouse Democracy” literally. He has no experience in the USA and is just a naturalize citizen that under oath he promised to defend and not to defecated our country.
Someone has to stop this clown, remove his Citizenship and sent it back to Peru.

I agree with Bayly even though I don’t agree too many times with him. I do see his show sporadically. He is excersising his rights to his and many others views and free speech. Shame on all of you that are harrassing him with this site and are telling him you are disolusioned with him. If Bayly is disolusioning you, get ready because Obama will be on the top of your list. He is a human being and will NOT be able to live up to the expectations of all of you fanatics. I feel sorry for him because he will have a long strenous presidency. As far as racism?
